Great hostess gifts for all of your wedding soirees!

If you have not heard yet, you must check out these delicious candles made from one of my best friends and her mother, http://www.foxglowinc.com/ . They feature local landmarks around the Chapel Hill area and they smell fabulous! I always love giving and receiving nice candles that are packaged and presented in a pretty way and these definitely complete the task! They are presented in a large, blue and white striped box with a set of old school matches. Perfect for your next hostess gift!

Jewelry for your bridesmaids

To all of you that are trying to find that perfect gift for your girls, check out http://kellifreemandesigns.com/index.html. This is one of my best friends and she does a fabulous job on custom jewelry. You can send her links to the girls' attire or swatches of their fabric and let her do a few mock ups for you. She will email you pics of the examples if you prefer and then you can choose your selection. She is super talented and I have been giving her jewelry as gifts for quite a while!

New Year's Festivities

The holidays are over and I have to admit that I am sad and a little bummed out! I could have Christmas all year round if possible. I think I just love the excitement, the anticipation and mainly the decorations in my house this time of year. I can't even stand to think of having to take them all down this week. I know many of you may be looking forward to New Year's Eve and I am sure there are big plans and parties going on but I am one that doesn't really enjoy making a big deal out of the night. I think it's a little hyped up and overpriced. We are having a few friends over, doing a little bonfire in our backyard with an oyster roast and grilling steaks. That to me, sounds fabulous! Here's to you and your New year's! Hope it is a great start to a fabulous 2011!

For all of your partiers, here are a few fun cocktail recipes to try: yummy and festive drinks

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!!!

So, Thanksgiving is in 48 hours and most of us are running around like crazy prepping for our families to come over. Unless you are lucky and one of the ones that gets to show up at someone else's home with a bottle of wine and an appetizer. (I am actually one of those too!). I love the idea of having a Thanksgiving dinner. I think the middle of the day meals are exhausting and a little odd with the overall timing of the day. I love candles, cocktails (of course) and it is just so intimate and cozy at night time. I found these images online of non traditional Thanksgiving decor. Above are some of my favs. Enjoy and I hope you eat a lot and have time to relax with your loved ones!

pashminas at your winter wedding???

So I just got a call from a very distraught mother of a bride. Turns out her church is now requiring that all brides, bridesmaids, mothers of the brides, etc. be dressed "appropriately" for weddings at the church. This apparently means no strapless dresses. Really? Are they serious? Because who doesn't have strapless dresses for their gowns whether it's the bride or bridesmaids? I am sorry that one barely dressed group of ladies messed it up for the rest. Anyway, got me thinking about pashminas as a solution for them even though their event is in JUNE! I do love pashminas and I personally own about one in every color. I love fall/winter weddings where we lay out baskets of pashminas for the ladies to wrap up in. Now, it's very rare that we get fall/winter weddings down here on the coast, but I do love this idea and while it's not a new trend, it's really always a cute little something extra for you to offer your guests and especially your bridesmaids.

Office Decor

Okay, so I finally am moving up in the world! I just got my 1st real office space and I am feeling very grown up and professional! And of course the most exciting part of it all is the decorating part of course! I am working with not the best existing decor therefore forcing me to make the most of what's currently in place. That includes cream walls and navy carpet. Eww! Not my choice but I decided to work with it and not against it. I found a mahogany dining table with rattan legs, a set of bamboo chairs with glass top table, a rattan side chair and my favorite, a turquoise Chinese dragon statue! I have posted some images below as my inspiration for the decor. I am working with a navy, kelly green, and raspberry pink. Let me know what you think!
